Tokenism and quotas

It's a wonder that the EU is actually loved by some, though it would appear to be becoming a rather exclusive club mostly of politicians in the UK. Mostly they are hated because they meddle, they interfere in things they don't really understand and promote them from an agenda that's foreign to how the UK does things although the leftards seem to have adopted such an agenda wholesale... which ought to sound warning bells for anyone with any common sense.
Express.
A report outlining a quota scheme is set to go before MEPs and may soon be adopted by the European Parliament.
If it becomes law, all the political parties in the UK will have to impose female gypsy candidates on the electorate and get them into Parliament.
The scheme is also aimed at using quotas to force gypsy civil servants and councillors on the British public.
The revelations about the contents of European Parliament’s Empowerment Of Romani Women report provoked outrage yesterday.
The idea of forcing a candidate on the electorate is not of course foreign to the UK, Blair, Brown and Cameron have all used the power of their office to enforce all women shortlists on constituency parties after all.  So don't be too surprised in the future if all women, becomes, all muslim, all afro-Caribbean, all gypsy etc. There will be a choice of course, just a choice from one group and that's all the democracy we'll be allowed.
The problems might of course arise if the candidates are rejected by the electorate, one wonders what the EU will do then... nothing nice I suspect. Perhaps they'll insist on gypsy candidates representing all parties standing in a constituency... just to make it fair of course.
Then of course they'll wonder at just why their popularity is nosediving amongst the populace they purport to represent rule.
Politicians, particularly in the EU simply do not have a clue as to what ordinary people want.
Mostly it's for the EU to leave us the hell alone.

Discrimination

Discrimination is everywhere, it's essentially what people do. However when it comes to what the state offers, then discrimination is a problem as smokers are now finding out.
Mail.
Patients are being denied minor treatments because they smoke, The Mail on Sunday has found.
In one case a healthy middle-aged man was told he could not have a ten-minute operation to cut a small benign growth off the side of his head, because of his habit.
Paul Merrett thought it would be no problem to get the inch-long fatty lump, called a lipoma, removed.
But when he attended King George Surgery in Stevenage, his GP said he could not have the minor operation – which doctors often do under local anaesthetic in their own consulting rooms.
Mr Merrett, 46, said: ‘I was told, in no uncertain terms, that unless I gave up smoking or signed up to a quitting clinic they would refuse to treat me. I was gobsmacked.’
He claims the doctor told him: ‘These directions are not mine. It’s not me refusing this treatment, it’s the NHS trust.’
Mr Merrett, who smokes ten roll-ups a day, said: ‘It makes me livid. I can count how many times I have needed to rely on the NHS in the past ten years on one hand. I pay into the system and it’s my right to be able to use it when I need it.’
Now I don't smoke, never have, though it's never bothered me in the way that some people get het up  about it, there are far worse things out there than smoking after all. Still, if you pay into the NHS via your National Insurance ponzi scheme then you'd expect the same benefits to be available to all, not on a selective basis. That's not how the righteous see things of course, they only want healthy people to have access to the NHS... healthy meaning that no one is using it at all. They want lists and exclusions that fit their own particular prejudices and if they get away with one thing, then you can be damned sure that these lists will be expanded, you can see it in their current pogroms against smokers, drinkers, the obese (by their standards not the actual one) those who eat too much sugar, high in cholesterol, high blood pressure etc.
Not that they aren't prepared to take your money, just prevent you from using it as it was intended, rather like an insurance claim being rejected due to some small clause that you hadn't noticed, with the added insult to injury of not being able to opt out.
Mr Merrett is probably the first of many, he managed to get it overturned, but sooner or later it will be the norm and then they'll move to other targets until only the healthy have access to the NHS, basically those who don't need it...

It's almost as if he wants to lose...

David Cameron will probably be known as the man who lost an election some would have thought impossible to lose. He somehow managed to only get into power by forming a coalition with the idiot Lib Dems a party renowned for making up policy on the hoof in their door to door campaigns. Still despite being up against one of the most unpopular and uncharismatic Prime Ministers in living memory, Cameron through his imbecility in denying the voters a say on the EU managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Telegraph.
David Cameron has held talks with Nick Clegg about forming a second coalition after 2015, amid growing concern in Downing Street that the Conservatives will not win the next election.
The pair are said to have discussed the prospect of a second union “from time to time” over the past year, with the Prime Minister confident that his deputy will not form a government with Labour.
One of the reasons the Conservatives lost is that they were almost certainly not Conservative enough, the public simply didn't want another Labour government, they did not warm to Cameron in his role as Blair mk2. Rather than putting clear blue water between him and the leftards, he tried to be all things to all men and became nothing to anyone.
And now it seems as if he's hell bent on losing the next election by tying himself to the even more leftist Lib Dems who are so unpopular these days that Ukip are currently leading them in the polls because of Ukips appeal to Conservative and Labour voters, something that the media is in somewhat of a frenzy to deny... well the Labour bit anyway.
Other than for a politician to actually be loath to give up actual power, you'd think that Cameron was deliberately allying himself to the Lib Dems to lose the next election to avoid a referenda on the EU.
Bears thinking about.

Denial

Seems the barbarians who butchered Lee Rigby are denying that they committed murder, an unusual step to be sure considering how they filmed themselves doing it and the rants they gave. Then again as muslims they probably don't think it was murder, more along the lines of just offing a military kaffir and of no great moment as the barbarians showed in the Kenya shopping mall.
Mail.
Two men appeared in court today to deny claims they murdered soldier Lee Rigby outside his barracks.
Michael Adebolajo, 28, of Romford, Essex, and Michael Adebowale, 22, of Greenwich, appeared via video link at the Old Bailey.
They also each denied attempting to murder a police officer on May 22, the day of Fusilier Rigby’s death, and conspiracy to murder a police officer on or before that day.
No doubt they are hoping for their day in court to continue their vile rants about the demi-demon they call allah, though I suspect that we won't hear that much about their rants, just the odd media comment unless you actually decide to go along and listen to the tedious barbarians.
Cameron and other politicians have gone into denial over islamic violence claiming that islam is a religion of peace and that what happened was not islamic, though anyone who has read the quran and studied the hadiths will tell him or them otherwise. Then again anyone who does is either accused of racism (like islam is a race) islamophobia (it isn't a phobia when the danger is very real) or gets the equivalent of someone holding their fingers in their ears shouting "La, la, la, I can't hear you."
There are also immediate moves by muslim organisations and leftards to try and shift the blame in claims that muslims are the real victims of our justifiable anger. Claims of attacks on mosques and muslims often exaggerated (or outright lies) to try and garner sympathy, although even this is failing as the UK awakes to the enemies that politicians have allowed to infest these shores.
No, these guys don't think they've done anything wrong, they want their day in court to tell us this and blame us for their actions.
That sadly is islam for you.

I'd have thought it would be more...

Now I don't like islam, I believe it to be violent, fascistic, totalitarian, genocidal, warmongering, misogynistic, homophobic, medieval, intolerant and somewhat of a supremacist in it's treatment of anyone not a muslim male. That said, I don't have a problem generally with muslims as individuals, it's when they are in groups and essentially being told what to do that causes problems. Certainly there does appear to be something of a hair trigger between ordinary and jihadi and I'm unsure just what causes the switch to flick.
Mail.
A survey has revealed that many young people distrust Muslims and feel Britain would be better off if there were less of them in the country.
Of the 1,000 young people questioned in a BBC survey, 27 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds said they didn't trust Muslims, while a similar number said Britain would be better off with fewer Muslims.
It also emerged that 60 per cent thought the British public had a negative image of Muslims and 44 per cent said Muslims do not have the same values as the rest of the population.
A total of 16 per cent said they didn't trust Hindus or Sikhs, 15 per cent said they didn't trust Jewish people, while 13 per cent and 12 per cent said they didn't trust Buddhists and Christians respectively.
No doubt the leftards in society now believe they have a major problem with young people being virulently racist, despite islam or muslim not being a race as such despite the best efforts of some to equate the religion with race.
The Government group blames negative media coverage of Muslims for stoking anti-Islam sentiment.
Yes, the media clearly should not have shown burning poppies, bombings in London, Boston and New York, butchery in Woolwich, Abu Hamza, Samantha Lewthwaite, Bali bombings, Al Quaeda, or show stuff like these pictures.

Yes, clearly if the media didn't show stuff like this or report the truth then muslims would be viewed much more kindly by the young and society in general.
Well I've got news for the islamists and assorted leftards and libtards who cannot see the wood for the trees, you reap what you sow and islam has been sowing the seeds of its own problem in the eyes of others for decades now and people have reached the stage where they no longer are prepared to accept the 'religion of peace' platitude as favoured by the hard of thinking and lying muslim spokesperson.
Islam is not, never has been and never will be a religion of peace. If anything most muslims are good people in spite of their religion, not because of it. Nor does islam mean 'peace' it means submission, and most of us are not prepared to submit to the vile creed it is.

Is it cos I is black?

I hate the race industry with a passion as it's very much in their interests (funding) to ensure that racism is kept very much alive in the UK. Particularly when it comes to the grievance procedure when confronting an employer...
Mail.
A black fire station commander is suing bosses for race discrimination - claiming colleagues called him ‘Frank’ after former boxing champion Frank Bruno.
Birmingham-based Warren Simpson, 48, alleges he was passed over for promotion for seven years and his career development was not supported in the same way as white colleagues.
The commander, believed to be the highest-ranked black officer in the West Midlands Fire Service, is taking his brigade to an employment tribunal after claiming he was victim of race discrimination, including victimisation, harassment and bullying.
Mr Simpson joined the brigade in 1985 and worked at various stations before becoming a station commander at fire service headquarters in Birmingham.
His wife Cordell Simpson represented him at the city tribunal. She claimed he had been referred to as ‘Frank’ after the ex-world champion Bruno.
Mrs Simpson added: 'Mr Simpson believes his development has not been supported in a comparable way of that of his white colleagues.'
Firstly Frank Bruno is one of the most respected people in the UK and very much a role model for many young people. He won the WBC world heavyweight  championship in 1995 and remains a popular celebrity to this day. If anything Mr Simpson should be pleased that his nickname is after Frank, as opposed to say... Homer.
Secondly I rather doubt any white officer has the Association for Black Professionals in the Fire Service (UK) to fall back on as if there were a white organisation that would be racist...
I can't help but think that the organisation Race 4 Justice who appear to be supporting Mr. Simpson are part and parcel of the problem as well, as it does appear that they may be a fake charity suckling at the taxpayer teat and therefore need cases like this to increase their funding.
Why is it that the first choice in any case involving someone not white seems to fall into the scream racist type of investigation? Do they really believe that old whitey is really out to get them?
Of course if we aren't, it does call into question people like Mr Simpson's abilities... so perhaps that's why after all...

Getting it, but unable to do anything about it

A judge got it about the benefits system and those who defraud it today. Unfortunately for the judge he can't do a damned thing about it...
Express.
BRITAIN’S scrounger culture came under fire yesterday after a judge heard how a benefit cheat will repay almost £100,000 – using taxpayers’ money.
Judge Beverley Lunt was astonished to learn that mother-of-seven Cleo Embley can carry on claiming £237 a week even though she fiddled the welfare system for four years.
When Embley’s barrister said she “knows she is going to have to pay the money back”, Judge Lunt replied: “But she isn’t. The taxpayer is going to have to pay it back.
She has defrauded all this money but is entitled, from the state, for more money. So the state will receive the money – from the money the state is giving her.
Embley, 37, from Rishton, near Blackburn, illegally received more than £94,000 by claiming that her handyman boyfriend Paul Harwood did not live with her.
This is something those of us on the so called right of the political compass have been railing about for years, the fact that the unemployed (and oft times the unemployable) if indulging in criminal behaviour are rarely penalised in a manner which affects them. The state simply coughs up the cash and a small decrease in their benefits often results.
Even prison isn't really a viable option in that it costs more to lock up someone than for the taxpayer to pay the fine.
There was a time when crime and punishment went hand in hand with the institution of what was known as hard labour, unfortunately the reformers (mostly libtards and leftards) got the thing abolished and a nice comfy regime installed which meant that prison was no longer something to be feared. Lately there have been calls to release even more criminals as prisons are too crowded, sadly building more prisons seems not to have occurred to anyone in power.
So we have fines which are not fines and prison which other than keeping people locked away isn't really prison at all, simply a bit boring at times.
Perhaps it's time we got rid of the reforms and put a bit more bite into justice, make appearing in court something to really fear for the guilty.
Then again, i doubt anything will be done, too many people willing to bleat and cry about human rights... whilst the rest of us believe that criminals should only get very basic rights...

Value for money?

Well it's time to start on the Labour conference and their determination to put the past so far behind them that no one will remember the last time they were in power. It was as ever the usual platitudes, a bit of news candy and a slight emphasis on economic reality... the reality of the left, not reality itself.
They did announce that they would scrap HS2 if they don't think it's good value for money and costs rise, just a shame that they never seem to do this for other Labour flagship projects in the past...
BBC.
Labour is questioning whether the HS2 rail project is "the best way to spend £50bn for the future of our country".
Shadow chancellor Ed Balls told the party conference they still backed the idea of a new north-south rail link, but there could be no blank cheque.
Supporters say the project will provide much needed extra rail capacity.
The Labour leader of Manchester City Council criticised his party for raising doubts about its viability, accusing Mr Balls of a "cheap shot".
Sir Richard Leese - head of the Labour council since 1996 - said the high-speed line was "essential" to prevent the North and Midlands "slowly grinding to a halt".
Basically it was just words, the ground support of the Labour movement in whom 'Ballsy' would end up having to answer too has already said no way are you stopping this. A cheap shot indeed so beloved of politicians when it comes to heading off the spending of money on something they think the public might not support.
Still, there's always option two for getting the comrades on board...
BBC.
Working parents of three and four-year-olds in England would get 25 hours of free childcare a week if Labour wins the next general election.
Shadow chancellor Ed Balls plans to raise the banking levy by £800m a year to fund the move.
Three and four-year-olds currently receive 15 hours of free care a week, but Mr Balls wants to increase this.
Meanwhile, he has asked the government's spending watchdog to review his party's economic plans.
Now this is socialist thinking at its worst, the comrades will think that the public will support a raid on the bank, indeed many might do so until they realise that the banks won't lose anything by this. Essentially this is a stealth tax by a roundabout way as the banks will immediately look to recoup their cash by charging more for their services. You may avoid this if you don't have an overdraft, go into the red, don't take out a loan or save. because the bank is likely to increase the hidden charges involved with all these factors and we the public (everyone who has a bank account) is liable to feel the pinch if at some stage we fall foul of the bank.
Still, you can expect the comrades to crow about this as it looks on the surface to be good news, though as ever the term 'there's no such thing as a free lunch' should be very much at the fore of anyone looking at a politicians promises. In the end we all end up paying for their hubris...

Out of proportion to their numbers

Most of the worlds attention is focussed on the islamic attack in Kenya today and the storming of the building to remove the barbarians holding hostages within.
Yet oddly enough a quick scan of the web pages of the BBC, The Mail, The Express and The Telegraph shows that Kenya is only one part of a problem with islam and muslims...
BBC.
Two bombs outside a church in Peshawar in Pakistan have killed at least 75 people, in one of the worst attacks on Christians in the country.
Two suicide bombers blew themselves up as worshippers were coming out of the city's historic All Saints church after attending Sunday Mass, police say.
Mail.
Britain's first Muslim free school is controlled by religious hardliners who ban children from singing or reading fairy tales and force staff to wear headscarves - according to the former head teacher and deputy who claim they were forced to leave.
Andrew Cutts-McKay resigned from his role as head of al Madinah School in Derby in August, two months after deputy Suzanne Southerland stepped down from her post.
Both allege they were 'bullied and sidelined' by members of the school's trust, which is predominantly Muslim. The school strongly denies the pair's claims.
Express.
A FAKE wedding scam aimed at letting Pakistani men enter the UK after marrying in apparently lavish ceremonies overseas was uncovered after photographs of the ceremonies showed different brides and grooms wearing the same clothes.
Telegraph.
Ozman Mirza, a British broker of Pakistani origin at Tradition Securities, says white colleagues yelled abuse at him across the trading floor and called him a "filthy f****** Indian" and "curry muncher". One senior broker even made the the Nazi salute, it is claimed.
Mr Davis said in a statement: "I am extremely surprised and shocked that the claimant's Tribunal claims contains serious allegations of racial abuse against me personally and other members of the FX Forwards desk.
"I wish to make it absolutely clear that I have never used any form of racist language towards the claimant or any of my colleagues. Nor have I ever heard or witnessed any members of my desk behaving in this manner. Had I done so, I would have reported it.
"The claimant never made any formal or informal complaints of racism or otherwise against me or my team."
Perfect examples of how muslims deal with and react too anyone other than themselves, although muslim on muslim civil war is also the biggest killer of muslims worldwide.
In Pakistan we see how muslims view any other religion than their own, they are literally cattle to be culled as and when muslims have a grievance... a pretty much ongoing situation worldwide as far as I can tell.
In the UK we see how muslims once they get into positions of power and authority proceed to put their belief system and ideals into place no matter the law or the legitimacy of their position.
By fake visa's we have an example of immigration jihad where although facilitated by Czech's,  male Pakistanis (and you can bet they aren't the bombed out minority Christians) are being allowed into the UK to spread their barbarism and undercut our own employment system. There are some libtard leftists who want an amnesty for illegals, I believe Stalin called those who would set the scene for their own downfall as 'useful idiots' it does seem apt after all.
Finally we have the grievance culture where a muslim once his lucrative job comes under threat immediately plays the racist card. It may be that he was abused, though the examples he gives are rather vague and no one else seems to remember them. Still, playing the race/religion card is always a good step, it almost immediately puts people on the defensive and makes them look the guilty party despite the failings of the accuser.
Four new outlets, four stories easily found about how islam behaves in the UK and worldwide and that's without the headline story of the siege in Kenya.
Yet we are constantly told that islam isn't like this by those who purport to lead us. An excuse growing thinner by the day.
The EDL leader Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley Lennon) however nailed this when interviewed over the Lee Rigby atrocity when he said that 'this is islam' and as for the four stories above, truly 'this is islam' and it's only going to get worse until islam is dealt with once and for all.

That is why I'm English. Anyone can be British.

The previous governments attempts to smear 'the rights' nose in diversity by gerrymandering the political system with immigrants who were/are likely to vote Labour continues to gather pace. The current government seems unable to deal with the issues involved and are hamstrung by the Lib Dems having influence on the levers of power to some extent. So it came as no surprise to learn that over 2 million passports have been handed over early to give immigrants the rights of a UK citizen.
Mail.
More than two million immigrants have been granted British citizenship since 2000, it can be revealed. In the past year alone, a record 204,541 requests for a UK passport were rubber-stamped by the Home Office, official figures show. This is the equivalent of one migrant being given citizenship every two-and-a-half minutes – the fastest rate in history.
It means the total number given out since the turn of the century now stands at 2,053,396.
Campaigners say the face of British society has been changed for ever in just 13 years.
The main beneficiaries are from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, China and the Philippines.
Once approved, new citizens are treated in the same way as anybody else with a British passport, including no restrictions on access to housing, benefits or the jobs market.
Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migrationwatch, said the figures were ‘the inevitable consequence’ of Labour’s deliberate policy of mass immigration.
The two million new citizens are entitled to vote in general elections, and critics, including Migrationwatch, have long insisted Labour adopted a deliberate policy of mass immigration for political reasons.
They cite remarks by former Labour speech writer Andrew Neather, who boasted the aim of its immigration strategy was to ‘rub the Right’s nose in diversity’.
This is the same Labour who were trying to convince us that they are suitable to be the next UK's government and that they can be trusted on various policies such as the economy and immigration, when the evidence over the years suggests that trusting Labour is not something any sane person should do.
What has happened instead of the much hyped diversity and multicultural rainbow society that the leftist libtards expected has been a fracturing of society along racial, religious and ethnic lines with the colour of your skin or type of religion gaining you far greater privileges than the indigenous population with the 'cultural' excuse being the favourite for more extreme behaviour.
Labour are of course hoping that we'll forgive and forget their failings in this matter and perhaps some of their more sheeplike supporters in areas where 'diversity' hasn't wrecked the community will. Those who live in or near the ghetto's of immigrants who will not integrate, who won't learn the language and who see the immigrants getting preferential treatment by the state and its appendages however never will. In their rush to gain new friends, Labour trampled over the wishes of their own supporters/voters and finally having realised the loss of support in some areas now wish we'd all just forget and put the blame elsewhere.
What they did however was unforgivable and I for one will never forgive and never forget.

No compulsion?

Whilst I am of the opinion that people ought to be able to dress the way they like whilst out in public, I'm of the opinion that when compulsion is used in the form of a religious mandate then it's very wrong. I'm ok with the likes of Mosques and Synagogues insisting on making visitors wear appropriate garb, but I'm not so sure on forcing non-believers to wear religious garb in a religious school, particularly if they are not of that religion...
Telegraph.
Staff at Al-Madinah School, in Derbyshire, say that they have been told to sign new contracts agreeing to wear hijabs and make girls sit at the back of classes.
The Muslim faith school, which caters for 200 students aged four to 16, also forbids the teachers from bringing in non-Halal food or wearing unacceptable jewellery, it is claimed.
Non-Asian staff have been seen removing the headgear immediately when leaving the building, but refused to reveal the extent of the school's demands.
Nick Raine, regional NUT officer, said: "We are very worried about the school and the education of the 200 children there.
"It's one thing to have a dress code which we can challenge and quite another to build it into a contract.
"The school is publicly accountable so there needs to be greater transparency."
Now whilst I'm mostly of the opinion that it's their gaff, their rules I feel that this is very different from the failure of that Birmingham college to try and ensure that faces will be uncovered for security (and honesty) reasons. This is a deliberate attempt to get staff to comply to a dress code foreign to this country and not islamic in any way shape or form.
As an imam Dr T Hargey who is the Director, Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford put it in a letter to the Times (paywalled)
For Muslims to claim that the niqab/burka is Islamic is not only deceitful, but disingenuous. At best it is an outmoded cultural convention and a primitive tribal habit. Many ill-informed Muslims have, however, been conditioned to conflate culture with religion and befuddle liberal Britain that this is a principle of religious freedom and human rights when it is neither. In fact, it is illegal for masked women to undertake the pilgrimage to Mecca or to perform their daily prayers. If women are prevented from hiding their identity at Islam's holiest shrine, why do they need to do so in the UK?
And as an imam, he would know.
No, this is yet another example of islamics trying to set themselves and keep themselves apart from society and enforce their weird and inappropriate dress sense on the rest of us. I suppose the staff could simply hand their notice in or refuse to wear medieval tribal clothing, but the point is as non islamics not in a religious building is that they simply have no need too.
Sue Arguile, branch secretary of Derby National Union of Teachers, said: "There are worries over practices concerning the discrimination between male and female pupils in the school, with the girls being told to sit at the back of the class regardless of whether they can see the board properly.
Perhaps we should simply close it down as they can't seem to follow civilised patterns of behaviour so that even the left wing NUT are concerned...

This wouldn't happen anywhere else

Local councils and government along with the state waste millions on translation services for people who really ought to be speaking the recognised language of the country. Whilst a case can be made for providing Welsh translations in Wales and Scots Gaelic in Scotland, there's no excuse for it in England. Not that you can tell that to the councillors in the islamic republic of Tower Hamlets...
Express.
Controversial Tower Hamlets council, which has one of the largest migrant communities in Britain, made the announcement last night after a Bangladeshi man started addressing councillors in Bengali.
The man, who had been listed to ask a question about a local issue in east London, walked to the podium and microphone and spoke for several seconds in Bengali before the Speaker, Lesley Pavitt, asked him to stop.
She said he must speak in English, but he replied that he struggled with the language.
He told the 51 councillors, of whom 30 are of Bangladeshi origin and Bengali speakers, that he should be allowed to continue in his mother tongue.
But a senior council official replied that had he given the town hall enough notice, an official interpreter would have been booked.
The official said he could delay his question until next month’s meeting when a professional would attend.
Oddly enough the people in Tower Hamlets will have to pay for this professional, not the guy asking the question in a tongue which is foreign to this country. Welcome to the lunacy which is multiculturalism in the UK though where every person who does not have a grasp of English needs to have a (free) translator provided for them at our expense.
What should have happened at the meeting was that the guy asking the question be charged for the privilege of asking it in Bengali. If his English isn't good enough, he should have brought along someone whose English was, not be told that he would get his own free professional at ratepayers cost.
Btw this is the same Tower Hamlets council who gives £185,000 a year in grants to community groups who provide free Bengali “mother tongue” classes for children after school... rather than English lessons, you know the language of the country they live in. If their parents want them to speak Bengali, that's their problem, not the problem of a council you'd think?
This is why I believe that the end result of multiculturalism so beloved of leftards will inevitably lead to civil war.

Hopefully we'll do nothing of the kind

It was the boy Clegg's speech at the Lib Dem conference snoozefest and it seems his inability to connect with what voters actually want and what he and his leftardalikes want is at polar opposites. After all, what else can you think about what Cleggy boy wants when he comes up with these as Lib Dem achievements...equal marriage, retaining the Human Rights Act and teaching climate change in school and believes it's something the public wants despite opinion poles saying that no, it isn't.
Still it does take the biscuit when he demands this...
BBC.
The Lib Dems must be part of a coalition government after the next election to stop the Tories or Labour "messing up", Nick Clegg tells his party conference.
"We are the only party that can finish the job of economic recovery, but finish it fairly," he told the Lib Dem conference in Glasgow.
After three years of coalition Britain was now a "step closer" to the death of single party government, he claimed.
He said Lib Dems had proved wrong the critics who said coalition would never work - but he also looked ahead to the next election, saying that "left to their own devices" Labour or the Tories would "mess it up".
Speaking openly about forming a power sharing deal with the two bigger parties - something he avoided doing before the last election - he said: "Labour would wreck the recovery. The Conservatives would give us the wrong kind of recovery."

Apart from the fact that he got the bit about Labour messing up the economy right, which frankly wasn't difficult it's what Labour do after all, he does appear to be of the opinion that the Lib Dems have not been anything but an albatross around the neck of the Tories and is only sharing power because Cameron single-handedly threw away the last election against the most unpopular Labour government and Prime Minister in living memory. It was a sort of CeauÈ™escu moment for the boy Clegg and it appeared that he may be standing giving the speeches whilst his party decide just how to make themselves unelectable by other means than the deeply unpopular Clegg mandate.
Still I guess the Lib Dems on the street will carry on making it up as they go along and ignore their leading buffoon as most of the rest of the country does until they get rid of him and put someone in place to lead them back to respectable obscurity only fit for the odd protest vote.

Other people's money

It's the party political conference season and currently the Lib Dems are trying to dig themselves into an early grave by raids upon the taxpayer to pay for goodies for people who don't contribute. Other than a leaked email telling the world that they intend a mansion tax (again) coupled by a tax raid on anyone earning above £50,000 who they reckon are on a “very large salary” and should pay more income tax. They also announced that the taxpayer is going to have to pay for all infants attending school in the UK to get free dinners...
BBC.
All pupils at infant schools in England are to get free school lunches from next September, Lib Dem leader and Deputy PM Nick Clegg has announced.
The change - for children in reception, year one and year two - will save parents about £400 a year per child.
Targeting infants would ensure "every child gets the chance in life they deserve", teach healthy eating habits and boost attainment, Mr Clegg said.
Magic money tree economics at its best, no doubt parents with infants will think 'oh goody' whilst those of us who don't will probably think 'the thieving bastards, dipping into my pockets again' or something along those lines.
But Labour said the Lib Dems could not be trusted to deliver.
And Labour would know, they're past masters on taking the piss when it comes to financing those they see as worthy.
Still no doubt this will make the Lib Dems somewhat popular with parents of infants, though like as not, no one else. They'd rather take money from us all and spunk it up the wall than actually take less money off us and make us all a little better off. Special interests rather than general interests.
It makes for good headlines, but so far no one (on the BBC is asking just how much this is going to cost, though judging by the leaked email on the tax raid, I suspect one group of people have a pretty good idea.

A nice day out

Currently I work for a construction company, I won't say which one as I'm not sure what their views are on bloggers and blogging. A previous company I worked for asked me to pull a post despite praising them to high heaven in the type of job I did for them, so best safe than sorry. As it is, they had a few problems with an external mounted scaffolding passenger/goods lift and I was sent into central London to fix it... an unusual event in and of itself as I'm normally workshop based.
The job went well and the hoist/lift was handed back to the site in good working order, a few minor electrical problems which had prevented its repair and installation of a new inner car all resolved.
However it was in the testing stage that I went up to the highest level and got to see this...

Idyllic
100 metres up in the air the view was quite magnificent, with little or no traffic noise making it up that high.

The skyline to the East
I don't particularly like London, but it has some magnificent views, if you can get up high enough to see them. Construction sites often give a chance for me to sneak a view that others rarely see.

Unfortunately the way up is a bit treacherous
Still a surprise and a welcome one at that, just glad I had my phone with me to take a few snaps.

Lies, damned lies and global warming statistics...

They still can't admit that they got it wrong as that would also mean they conned us out of billions in cash to feed the rabid green god and its bird mincing temples (and line their pockets). But they have started the climbdown by saying that it's only 'warming' at half the rate they said it was and we won't be growing cacti in an English country garden...
Mail.
A leaked copy of the world’s most authoritative climate study reveals scientific forecasts of imminent doom were drastically wrong.
The Mail on Sunday has obtained the final draft of a report to be published later this month by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the ultimate watchdog whose massive, six-yearly ‘assessments’ are accepted by environmentalists, politicians and experts as the gospel of climate science.
They are cited worldwide to justify swingeing fossil fuel taxes and subsidies for ‘renewable’ energy.
Yet the leaked report makes the extraordinary concession that the world has been warming at only just over half the rate claimed by the IPCC in its last assessment, published in 2007.
Back then, it said that the planet was warming at a rate of 0.2C every decade – a figure it claimed was in line with the forecasts made by computer climate models.
But the new report says the true figure since 1951 has been only 0.12C per decade – a rate far below even the lowest computer prediction.
The 31-page ‘summary for policymakers’ is based on a more technical 2,000-page analysis which will be issued at the same time. It also surprisingly reveals: IPCC scientists accept their forecast computers may have exaggerated the effect of increased carbon emissions on world temperatures – and not taken enough notice of natural variability.
By exaggerated the mean they lied to us of course, it's the old gi-go priciple, garbage in = garbage out and they knew they were putting garbage into their equations, the CRUtapes proved that along with their determination to make the situation what they wanted it to be rather than what it was. After all, funding was involved and greedy politicians along with senior civil servants saw a scam they could latch onto by way of directorships in 'environmental' companies so were prepared to shower climate scientists and organisations with a bit of cash so long as they kept coming out with what they wanted to hear... which sadly wasn't the truth.
However a good few scientists out there along with some intrepid journeyman investigators lifter the lid on the scandal and the green wars started between those who knew that warming was a lie and those who wanted to believe it was true or who were prepared to lie in order to cover up the true facts of the matter. It soon became obvious that the warmists were losing, the public aren't stupid and a series of cold winters made it obvious that the planet was if anything getting colder. Still, why let facts get in the way of funding? So the wars went on and the insults grew as it became clear that the warmist camps were fighting a nasty rearguard action to hold onto the taxpayers cash for as long as possible.
Even today they cannot admit just how wrong they were and just how badly they tried to dupe us. Even today they are still suckling at the now reduced cashflow coming their way.
One day the term 'climate scientist' will be an insult of the highest degree in a lot of circles, I suspect a lot of climate scientists know this. But that's what greed gets you and they really weren't the worst of it, the enviroloonies and the political types are even worse. The enviroloonies still believe they have all the answers whilst the political types will just move onto the next scam.
Greed and extremism make for the most terrible of combinations, don't you think?

Other peoples money

Why is it that the government (in the shape of Nick 'the boy' Clegg) always look to the financial option in the form of a punitive tax when it comes to solving a problem?
Bit of a rhetorical question I know, it is the first option of any government to dip its hands into peoples pockets.
Mail.
Shoppers are to be charged 5p for plastic bags in supermarkets and other large stores.
The move by ministers is a victory for the Daily Mail’s Banish the Bags campaign which has highlighted the menace of carrier bags.
The Government gave the stores an ultimatum that if they couldn’t curb the use of bags by voluntary efforts, they would be forced to act.
But after a brief reduction, the past two years have seen a sharp rise in the use of throwaway bags – to a shocking seven billion a year.
A far more simple solution would have been to insist that supermarkets used biodegradable bags, but no, Cleggy boy thinks the 5p should be given to enviroloony charities to clear up the mess, rather than actually deal with the cause. Oh it might reduce the use of such bags, it has in Wales and Northern Ireland, but if usage does come down, it doesn't eliminate the problem, merely stuffs the buyer with an additional cost on top of their shopping.
Whilst I'm all for cleaning up the environment, this won't do it, it might slow it down, but it's putting other peoples money into the hands of unaccountable charities to promote their own agendas which in the past haven't exactly been taxpayer friendly. Plus if I want to donate to charity, that ought to be my choice, not the governments which is why the so called fake charity money flow from the taxpayer by the government needs to be stopped as well. If it's a worthy cause, people will pay, the RNLI manage quite well without government support, the various environmental and health charities sucking at the taxpayers teat should either sink or swim by the same rules as the RNLI.
But no, Cleggy boy wants to promote his image by dipping once again into our pockets and give peoples money to charities they may not wish to support...

Jobsworths

The idiocy that happens in councils gets a pretty wide audience. Mostly to do with their sticking rigidly to the letter of a regulation rather than say use common sense...
Mail.
A coastal village can now boast a new attraction - the country's smallest parking space.
The tiny gap in between two sets of double yellow lines measures in at just nine inches wide, just big enough to fit the wheels of a bicycle.
Residents of Burry Port, Carmarthenshire have now gone to town with the gaffe - mocking officials who left the space by parking toy cars in the spot.
However, Carmarthshire Council bosses have revealed there is a real reason why workmen didn't fill in the space.
One set of yellow lines are on a public road owned by the local authority, while the others are on a private road which leads to the local GP surgery.
Oh those crazy Welsh councils eh?
The thing that gets me is that someone actually had to go out there and decide where one road started and another ended and decided that there was a 9 inch gap between the two sets of lines. Then you have the workmen who actually went ahead and did it anyway...

Still... rules is rules.
Particularly if you work for the government... local or national.

Why the left simply cannot be trusted to be impartial

This story cropped up a day or so ago and involved a U.N. inspector and her report on the 'Bedroom Tax' despite it not being a tax at all. Turns out the Brazilian Inspector was a slave to leftard beliefs and only used information she got from non governmental and left leaning sources. Impartiality being a foreign concept to the weird politico-economic beliefs of the far left.
Mail.
Furious Tories last night demanded the UN apologise for allowing a ‘loopy Brazilian leftie’ to attack the Government’s welfare reforms.
Iain Duncan Smith said Raquel Rolnik had undermined the impartiality of the UN with her ‘outrageous’ call for his housing benefit shake-up to be axed.
The Work and Pensions Secretary wants UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon to investigate the senior official’s conduct.
He said she had not asked ministers or officials for their input, adding: ‘I find it staggering that without this official information Mrs Rolnik feels she is in a position to be able to properly prescribe what the future of the policy should be.’
Senior UN officials have an open door to visit the UK but no specific invitation was extended to Mrs Rolnick.
She attended only one Whitehall meeting where the spare room subsidy was among the issues discussed and, according to officials, requested no further information.
However, briefing left-wing newspapers about her report, Miss Rolnik said: ‘My immediate recommendation is that the bedroom tax is abolished.
'I was very shocked to hear how many people feel abused in their human rights by this decision and why – being so vulnerable – they should pay for the cost of the economic downturn, which was brought about by the financial crisis.
That would be the financial crisis exacerbated in the UK by Labours left wing lunacy under Gordon Brown.
One of the major problems facing the UK is its benefits system which is far too wide ranging and has moved from being a safety net to a lifestyle choice for many people. Indeed when you tot up the benefits available to someone on them compared to someone who actually does work for a living then it's easy to see why such a lifestyle choice can be made. Also these days there's no public opprobrium to those who see the magic money tree of state benefits as a right, rather than a temporary measure till they get back on their feet.
Now I don't know if the Tories have the system right, or whether their reforms will founder on the rocks of intransigence and incompetence by public officials tasked to run the system, but at least they are trying to reform it.
As it is, we have a U.N. inspector popped in to do a report on the benefit reform and held only a 15 minute interview with the government, then swallowed down the propaganda of various leftard protest groups including the Daily Record in Scotland and used that as the basis for her deeply flawed report which seemed only to emphasise her own beliefs.
In short it was typical leftardism which applies its own 'truths' to any situation no matter what the real truth is nor what the facts of the matter are. What they believe is 'right' no matter what and no matter how often they change their truth to suit themselves. That's why they invariably end up running oppressive governments which use the threat of force to keep their unwilling subjects in line, whilst lining their own pockets. This plus they've never met an unpopular cause they didn't like, they opposed the UK's entry into WW2 until their beloved Soviet Union was attacked, they support the cult of islamism, multiculturalism, totalitarianism and anything which threatens the West.
Mrs Rolnick is of this calibre and her report made it all too clear why she is not a suitable inspector for anything.

Lest we forget.

We are at war with a barbaric, totalitarian, fascistic, thought control system masquerading as a religion. It places its own above everyone else and delineates downward treating others as dirt beneath their feet to be subdued, conquered, raped, defrauded, used and abused. It recognises no equals, not even between men and women and our politicians have allowed it to take root in our country.
There should be no place for islam in a civilised society... not now, not ever.

Their gaff, their rules

The blog title refers to a general understanding as to basic civil rights, so long as the rules themselves don't breach criminal or (some) civil laws. There are those however who see their right to do what the hell they like in someone else's property as a god given right... that god being the false one of islam.
Telegraph.
Birmingham Metropolitan College ordered all students, staff and visitors to remove any face coverings so individuals are "easily identifiable at all times".
The move led to claims that Muslim students were being discriminated against after women were told they could not wear the niqab, a veil that leaves only a slot for the eyes.
The disclosure comes as proposals to ban face coverings in public places are being debated in Parliament.
A private members bill proposed by Philip Hollobone, the Conservative MP for Kettering, would make it an offence for someone to wear “a garment or other object” intended primarily to obscure their face, in public.
Jack Straw, the Labour former foreign secretary, is among MPs who have drawn criticism by asking women visiting their constituency surgeries to consider removing their veils.
Yes, the members of the religion of permanent offence despite the fact that the niqab is not mentioned in their battle manual are up in arms that someone who isn't a family member might see the face of a woman. Which says a lot more about the utter insecurity and sexual depravity of muslim males than anything else. No doubt there are some who think it is genuine discrimination, however were I to try to enter any premises wearing a full cover motorcycle helmet I'd be asked to remove it or prevented from entering it by staff. Try the same in a cylon outfit as worn by some muslim females and you're the one who is in the wrong...

Yup... cylon
Frankly this move has been on the cards for a while now as muslims have used the niqab to force their views on others as well as being a definite health hazard in northern climates as the need for desert wear simply doesn't make sense here.
No doubt there will be outrage both faux and genuine, but frankly well done Birmingham Metropolitan College for having the balls to say no more.

Explosion of pay strikes... ah, that will be the public sector then.

Apparently it's the annual TUC jig and unlike the days of yesteryear when the BBC would televise it in all its corrupt left wing dullness, no one seems to really give a damn about the unions these days save only those who are in the public sector where the dinosaurs still hold sway...
Express.
Delegates at the annual TUC Congress are due to vote on calls for a programme of industrial action today against Coalition cuts.
Unison leader Dave Prentis told the conference in Bournemouth that pay had fallen behind inflation for five years.
This would be the same Dave Prentis who back in 2010 was earning with benefits the princely sum of £127,436. Clearly a man of the people.
So what if pay has fallen behind inflation? His members are capable of finding a job elsewhere surely? Oh, I forgot, this is the public sector and they do like their little gold plated pensions along with a job for life. Whilst completely forgetting who actually stumps up for their wages, that being the same people who suffer when they get all bolshie about the fact that the magic money tree has dried up.
Teachers and firefighters are set to strike and the Communication Workers Union says it will ballot its members over Royal Mail privatisation.
Yep, again it's the public sector as in those whose remuneration comes out of the public purse. Those who don't appear to realise that there is a recession and even if they have, don't give a damn because they believe a strike will solve all their problems by getting more cash off the taxpayer (something that they always conveniently forget)
It will be interesting if in 2014 there is a government in place who won't kowtow to these dinosaurs led by those who do not suffer by said actions as those on strike will still keep paying their wages.
There was once a place for unions, rights and abuses to be fought for or against. These days, the public sector unions are just taking the piss...

Observations

I'm back, stepdaughter is now ok and the grandkids have exhausted me.
I did note a few things whilst on my travels down to Devon and back, they may be specific to me, but I thought I'd get them down whilst I'm recovering...

In no specific order of importance...

  • In the case of drivers who have suffered the equivalent of a full frontal lobotomy, why do they all gravitate to either a black VW Polo (if young) or a silver merc (if an old/middle age fart)?
  • When travelling on a single carriageway (max mph) why do some folk happily tootle along at 50 to 55 mph with a large entourage behind them (cursing like as not) then when hitting a dual carriageway stretch immediately floor it to 70+ mph only to return to 50 to 55 mph when the dual carriageway ends and no one can get past?
  • Why do Devonians put jam on their cream tea scones first then the cream and Cornish people put the cream on first? Is it just to be different?
  • I did wonder at a host of missing cat posters in the Bideford/Clovelly area in which I was staying, at least until I spotted this...
Yes, it's an eagle owl!
  • Gliding across the field from where I was staying and it all became clear, I suspect the local falconry establishment have much to hide...
  •  Devonians love playing with the English language to fool pretty much everyone, after all who but the English would come up with the spelling of the village of Woolfardisworthy only to pronounce it Woolsery.
Normal service will probably restart tomorrow.

Parish notice.

Going down to Devon to see my stepdaughter (the one I married off) her hubby and the grandchildren. She apparently has a grumbling appendix, I may be a while...

A dangerous measure

At the moment it's only in the 'could' stage, but the EU are threatening to make driving extremely dangerous for the UK.
Telegraph.
All cars could be fitted with devices that stop them going over 70mph, under new EU road safety measures which aim to cut deaths from road accidents by a third.
Under the proposals new cars would be fitted with cameras that could read road speed limit signs and automatically apply the brakes when this is exceeded.
Patrick McLoughlin, the Transport Secretary, is said to be opposed to the plans, which could also mean existing cars are sent to garages to be fitted with the speed limiters, preventing them from going over 70mph. The new measures have been announced by the European Commission’s Mobility and Transport Department as a measure to reduce the 30,000 people who die on the roads in Europe every year.
One of the biggest dangers facing drivers who have speed limiters on their cars is that at the top speed, they cannot accelerate out of danger. There are often times when braking or remaining at the same speed will cause an accident, particularly if you're being tailgated (which still happens new law or not) Sometimes the only solution is to accelerate out of the way and get past the problem. Sure it's not all the time, but having driven a van owned by the company I work for which has a speed limiter set to 68mph I swiftly discovered that the extra burst of speed necessary to get out of the way of a problem was only available if I reduced speed to 60mph and played with the big boys (lorry drivers) and so made a nuisance of myself on the M25 by constantly weaving around trucks by accelerating and decelerating rather than deal with the nuisances in one fell swoop. Now imagine a situation where everyone was doing that on England's crowded roads where road deaths are at an all time low anyway? Indeed UK drivers are rated as the third best in Europe, after Germany (which has no speed limits on the autobahns) and Sweden, which has far fewer cars on the road.
Perhaps the EU would be better off bringing their drivers up to our standards before imposing a dangerous measure on us first.
This is however the EU we're speaking about which means that control, rather than compliance is the rule...
