Parish Notice

Blogging will be virtually non-existent until December 7th at the latest as I'm away off to Devon to be there for the birth of my first Grandchild, a daughter.

Try not to trash the place whilst I'm gone.

Took you long enough.

The UK as a whole is largely EUsceptic, a lot of us want out as we believe we could do far better for ourselves outside rather than inside, selling to all rather than subsidising a trade cartel. The UK has always in the past been a trader on a world scale, rather than on a local scale, which is what mainland Europe tended to do, particularly the further inland you got. Largely EUsceptic means the public at large of course, the political classes on the whole aren't, never have been either, they see it as aggrandising their power rather than giving away our sovereignty, after all the bigger the block, supposedly the more power it has, though in the case of the EU, power resides in the hands of a few apparatchiks rather than politicians. Still it's nice to see that one of the MSM have finally caught up with the thinking of the common folk.

Express.
THE Daily Express today becomes the first national newspaper to call for Britain to leave the European Union.
From this day forth our energies will be directed to furthering the cause of those who believe Britain is Better Off Out.
The famous and symbolic Crusader who adorns our masthead will become the figurehead of the struggle to repatriate British sovereignty from a political project that has comprehensively failed.
After far too many years as the victims of Brussels larceny, bullying, over-regulation and all-round interference, the time has come for the British people to win back their country and restore legitimacy and accountability to their political process.
Following the debacle of the Lisbon Treaty – disgracefully imposed upon the public without the referendum they were promised by the three main political parties – many had expected matters European to take a lower profile in British politics.
But the opposite has been true as those on board the European gravy train have mounted one power grab after another.
At a time of austerity throughout Europe they have expanded their bloated budgets, pushing Britain’s disproportionate contributions even higher.
And despite not being part of the failing eurozone, British taxpayers have learned that under Brussels rules agreed to by Labour after it had lost the election they are liable to help bail out economies wrecked by the single currency.
I wonder how long this will last, most newspaper campaigns fizzle out after a week or two, but still it's nice to see them announcing what the majority have been feeling for about 20 years or so, still I suspect some critical threshold has been passed in some private poll for the Express group, though I'd have laid odds on it being the Daily Mail first.
It will be interesting too, which of our politicians break ranks (other than the obvious ones of Carswell and Hannan) to support this campaign, the better off out group will be one, but will any of the big names come out and support it? I guess it will depend on how much pressure can be brought to bear, if they see votes going to it they'll follow the votes. If not I suspect a possible UKIP landslide in the next EU elections possibly pushing the Tories into second place, now there's a nice thought.

Their petition can be signed here.

This is what climate extremism has brought us too.

Fuel bills are high in the UK, some of it is down to the fact that foreign ownership of UK energy firms is used to subsidise foreign fuel prices, but a lot of it has to do with the climate levy that's added on to every household and industrial bill to "save the planet from climate change." The higher costs to industry also mean that higher costs of other services are passed on to us, it's a vicious cycle. What it means in reality is that people, particularly the old and vulnerable die as they count the pennies and make decisions on the grounds of stay warm or eat.
One of the measures of civilisation is how we treat our old folk, in the UK, it's not terribly well.

Express.
THOUSANDS of pensioners died from cold-related illnesses last winter as heating bills soared and temperatures plummeted, official figures reveal.
The number of deaths linked to the cold between December and March reached 25,400 in England and Wales, with another 2,760 in Scotland.
The figures are equivalent to nine deaths every hour.
The total gave Britain the highest winter death rate in northern Europe, worse than much colder countries such as Finland and Sweden.
There are fears the death toll could increase this year following energy price rises which may frighten elderly people into not turning on their heating.
Michelle Mitchell, of Age UK, said: “It’s unacceptable that tens of thousands more older people die in this country every winter from the effects of the cold weather. The fact that the UK has one of the highest winter mortality rates in Europe makes it clear this is very much a home-grown problem.
“Behind these statistics lie deep-seated social issues, such as one in three over-60s living in houses which fail the ‘decent home’ standard.”
According to the weather forecasts we're in for a particularly cold winter, though as they struggle to tell us what the weather will be like the day after tomorrow such predictions can be taken with a pinch of salt, or not, only time will tell, though I do reckon we're overdue a bad winter.
There's no doubt though, pensioners will die this winter due to the cold, it could be worse if we have a flu epidemic on top of it too. However government and environmentalists are adamant that better insulation rather than cheaper electricity and gas is the way to go, though few pensioners can afford either. Of course there's the suspicion that some environmentalists want a cull of the human race anyway, though pensioners is the wrong target group, still I suppose it would reduce the pensions deficit too from a strictly pragmatic government view.
A large majority in the UK now either totally disbelieve man made climate change, or think it doesn't matter, it's time the government caught up with this view too. Remove the green levy and keep our pensioners warm this winter and bring prices down elsewhere, give us all a break from the holier than thou environmental movement who should never have been put into a position to influence policy on this scale ever.

Thinking something doesn't make it so.

Here we go again, road safety campaigners have called for a 20 mph limit in urban areas because... "86% of children in London think drivers go too fast."
Not that 86% of drivers are going too fast, not that the percentage of death and accidents are on the rise (they aren't) but because young people who can't drive, think drivers are going too fast.

BBC.
Road safety campaigners are calling for 20mph speed limits in residential areas as a survey shows 86% of children in London think drivers go too fast.
The poll was conducted by the charity Brake of 2,630 children, aged nine to 13, in the London and the South East for Road Safety Week.
The survey also found 9% said they had been knocked down while walking or cycling and 55% have had a near miss.
Brake says a 20mph limit would help cut child road deaths to zero.
In 2009, 37 children were killed and 763 were seriously injured on roads in London and the South East, with 61% of these deaths and serious injuries being youngsters on foot or bicycle.
I wonder what Brake will do if road deaths were actually cut down to zero? Disband? I somehow have my doubts, there's always something new.
Children think they are immortal anyway, they play, they show off and they do stupid things on or next to roads with moving traffic. A lot of accidents are caused by pedestrians walking out in front of cars etc and not looking, rather than the drivers themselves being in any way at fault. During the summer months when the kids were on holiday, we had a bunch of kids playing in the street here, they were doing wheelies on their bikes and running in and out of parked cars playing chasey. Not one was hit by a car, though it's not a busy road, there's a fair amount of cars use it.
Perhaps, if Brake kept kids to pavements and not on roads they could bring the death rate down to zero, just a thought.

Sunday school

When I was young, getting on for 45 years ago kids went to Sunday school, there was no real coercion though parents were glad to see the back of us for a couple of hours on a Sunday, plus you also had a club night in the church hall where you played for the most part team sports or learned a musical instrument if the Sunday school teachers had the skill and were patient enough. Sunday school itself was fun, you sang songs, got told stories and if you were lucky got to make stuff or colour it in. For a lot of people that's where their inherent Christianity rubs off from, good guys and ladies with no CRB checks who took time off to teach us about God and Jesus and all the stuff that goes with it including forgiveness, tolerance, mercy and a whole set of moral values that stood civilisation in this country in reasonable stead. And that is what I initially expect anyone who learned of Muslim weekend schools thought they were about, not learning how to remove hands, stone adulterers and write about the reprehensibility of Jews.

Telegraph.
Up to 5,000 pupils attending weekend schools across Britain are being exposed to textbooks claiming that some Jews were transformed into pigs and apes, and that some offences could be punished with stoning. One book for six year-olds warns that those who do not believe in Islam will be condemned to “hellfire” in death.
Another text for 15 year-olds teaches that thieves who break Sharia law should have their hands cut off for a first offence and their feet amputated for a subsequent crime. Teenagers are presented with diagrams showing where the cuts should be made.
Tonight’s Panorama on BBC One will claim that the books were discovered at a network of 40 private schools teaching the Saudi Arabian national curriculum. The programme claims to have uncovered evidence apparently linking the schools to the Saudi embassy. Officials at the embassy deny any link.
As you'd expect, there have been the usual "Taken out of context" cries...

BBC.
In a written response, the Saudi embassy said such materials were often taken out of context and often referred to historical descriptions.
Except that historical descriptions abound in the Koran and Hadiths, with the Koran supposedly being the actual word of God to Mohammed and therefore perfect in every way. So the Koran say cut hands and feet off thieves, what else is a good Muslim supposed to do? If he doesn't then he defies his God and isn't a good Muslim. Christians have a phrase, love the sinner and hate the sin, there's no corollary whatsoever in Islam. It's why Christianity is about forgiveness and Islam is about revenge.
So there you have it, a barbaric fascistic ideology wrapped in religious trappings is taking the message to children and teaching them that hate is good.
Guess we know where the next generation of homegrown jihadi's are coming from.

Exclusively white?

You have to wonder at press reports and not just at national level.

Kingston Guardian.
Protesters chanting slogans against Muslim extremists marched through Kingston town centre this morning.
About 60 people, who were exclusively white, walked from Hampton Wick station across Kingston bridge and gathered in front of the Bentall Centre.
They chanted "Muslim bombers off our streets" and displayed Union Jacks and a large wooden poppy.
The 30-minute protest was peaceful and the protesters dispersed quietly.
Organiser Ben Baty, 20, said it was a protest against the burning of poppies.
They denied being linked to any group, but one man carried a St George's cross bearing the letters EDL (English Defence League).
Does it matter what colour the people are? Is "exclusively white" just a hidden code for racist/fascist/Nazi? I suspect that's the point they are trying to make. There's also the attempt to link it to the EDL who "everyone knows" are racist/fascist/Nazi's save perhaps the multi-ethnic EDL and a growing number of people who have watched what they do (and don't do).
Well I have news for the Kingston Guardian, there are other organisations out there who also oppose extreme Islam and were disgusted by the burning of poppies. March for England are one but in this case it was the Casuals who although they have links with the EDL, are not the EDL, they're the football fans that the EDL grew out of.
Other incidents are starting to gain more and more publicity and all the mealy mouthed platitudes spouted off by the authorities are no longer being believed as they jibe against what people actually see and experience.

Sunday Mercury.
POLICE fear Midland Territorial Army recruits who claim they have been racially abused while wearing their uniforms are victims of hate crimes.
The cadets say they have been verbally abused and spat at while walking to training sessions near Blues’ St Andrews stadium in Bordesley, Birmingham.
One recruit has reported that driver slowed down his car, wound down his window and shouted: “I hope you get blown up by an IED.”
Another says he was chased by a group of Asian youths who screamed insults and spat at him.
West Midlands Police said they are investigating the allegations.
Last night a spokesman said: “I am not willing to discuss our security arrangements on an individual basis. I think it is fair to say these were isolated incidents."
Sooner or later the press and media are going realise it isn't just a small minority who are protesting about this stuff and noticing what's going on. It's pretty much the entire country and we're getting very, very angry about it.

Envirolunacy

It's bad enough the government wasting our money on bird choppers wind farms and solar panels as well as putting an extra enviro-tarrif on top of our fuel bills. It's bad enough them lying through their teeth when they tell us it's good for us and the environment. It's bad enough they know we know they're lying and going ahead and doing it anyway. However it seems they are even using our money to export their madness.

Express.
MILLIONS of pounds of British taxpayers’ cash will be spent on developing wind turbines and solar panels in Africa and Asia, it was revealed yesterday.
At a time when the rest of the UK is being told to tighten its belt, the Government will pour money into the schemes abroad as part of a drive to help poor countries to develop green businesses.
Critics angrily attacked the move, which was announced by the International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell, branding it a waste of money and inappropriate at a time of austerity at home.
Mr Mitchell said the aid money was vital to help tackle climate change, as well as funding health and education in poor countries. Announcing two public-private partnership projects in Africa and Asia, he said they would help to stimulate investment in renewable energy schemes. And he defended the use of taxpayers’ cash.
“When it comes to tackling climate change across the world, we have to get on with the job,” he said. “We are at the threshold of nothing less than a new industrial, agricultural and technological revolution. That’s why we are acting now to help the world’s poorest countries adapt to and mitigate against climate change.”
The Government has put aside a total of £2.9billion from its overseas aid budget over the next four years to fight climate change worldwide. But the move sparked an angry backlash last night.
Britain is already dishing out more foreign aid than any other European country despite having to make the biggest spending cuts since the Second World War. Our donations outweigh those of Germany and France and come as Britain’s economy shows worrying signs of slowing down.
Why are we paying out aid for this? Why are we inflicting envirolunacy and spending billions on other nations when people here are going to freeze to death this winter because global warming didn't? Why are so many people being forced into fuel poverty when we can find billions to give to give away abroad?
International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell should be amongst the first to be hung from the lampposts come the revolution because it's obvious this and previous governments care more for anyone or anything than their own people.

Asian?

Asia is a damned big place covers about 8.6% of the Earth's landmass and has 48 countries in it as diverse as China, India and Uzbekistan. The term Asian means different things to different people. Asian to a U.S citizen means Oriental and Asian from our perspective generally means from the Indian sub continent. I suspect though to the Daily Mail Asian simply means "darkie" as does African, though it might read as Muslim too.

Daily Mail.

Police arrest ‘husband and father-in-law after Asian woman is stabbed to death in back of car’

A husband was remanded in custody under the Mental Health Act today after a pretty young woman was knifed to death in a car in what was believed to be a violent family argument.
The 27-year-old victim bled to death on the back seat of the vehicle after the bloody attack which severed an artery was launched while she was travelling with two men, believed to be her husband and father-in-law.
Detectives found a bloodstained knife alongside the body of the young woman in the Volkswagen Passat car which was parked on the road outside the family’s semi-detached home.
Now it might indeed be that the woman was Asian, it could be however that she was British too having been born here.
Today a 30-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, was detained in a hospital secure unit under the Mental Health Act.
His father, aged 51 years, has been released on police bail to return to Crawley police station on January 25.
Police confirmed that the victim and the two men arrested were all Asian and known to each other.
All Asian as coming from Asia or simply a description based on the colour of their skin, after all this was Crawley and it might actually be where they were born, certainly it's more likely than the woman.
The father owns lots of properties around here and is landlord to many families. He is also a painter and decorator,’ she added.
‘There are two sons and the older one, Kashif, got married about a year-and-a-half ago. It was a really big do and the house was all done up - they were so proud.
‘The rumours are that it was his bride who has been murdered and that it was he who was arrested by the police.’
Good hardworking folk then so why the extra description of continent of origin? As I said they may have been born here and lived all their lives here, unless there's something the Mail knows and hasn't bothered to tell us. Not as if they'd use the term British or even English had they been any other colour, though no doubt African or perhaps Caribbean might have been put in there had they been from therethough also used if they were born here.
No, in this case Asian is a euphemism for Muslim...
Neighbours identified them as the Baig family and said that they had been celebrating Eid, the Muslim equivalent of Christmas, last night when the killing happened.
But the Daily Mail like the rest of the MSM is still a bit coy about this sort of thing, it's a sort of a code and I suspect had the family been Hindu's or Sikh's they'd have been identified as such, even if it was by the description Indian. I don't know if the family being Islamic had anything to do with this, I don't know if the family actually were "Asian" had anything to do with this, I suspect though I don't know that they were that some of them were actually born here. I also fail to see what the colour of their skin had to do with this and this is what annoys me about the Daily Mail.
It would have been far more accurate to just say a young married woman had been stabbed to death by her husband, the Mail instead adds in a lot of salacious details designed to make the story read as "Muslim honour killing!" When it might just not be the case.

The future?

♫ I believe that children are our future,
Teach them well and let them lead the way* ♪

Unfortunately what some of our children are being taught is not quite what as a society we'd expect. Now I know kids are generally violent little psychopaths not terribly adult in their dealings with each other, but as parents and teachers it's up to us to show them how to deal with those they don't get on with and show respect. It's not an easy job, but sometimes it's made all the harder when religion becomes involved.

FIVE Muslim schoolboys threatened to kill a patriotic classmate for supporting British troops.
The 12-year-old yobs boasted they planned to attack terrified Darius Gill, 13, with knives and knuckle dusters for not supporting Islamic extremists.
They made the threats on Facebook after Darius – who has a white mother and Asian father – posted a touching tribute on the same website to troops who have lost their lives defending Britain.
I think we can see where the next generation of poppy burners are coming from.
The gang – along with a white girl also aged 12 – have now been excluded from their school, the Sidney Stringer Academy which is in a predominantly Muslim area of Coventry.
One gang member said in a Facebook message littered with spelling mistakes: “Fight on Monday gonna be heavy knuckle dusters nd knifes hopefully I don’t die.”
Another added: “ill bang him ma slef am a terrorist.” One of the youngsters even posted a picture of himself holding a rifle. Darius’ mother Clare Allington, 42, who lives in Coventry, said: “If I hadn’t read the threats and pulled my son out of school that day he could be dead.
“They might just be school children but they are fanatical and dangerous. The threats have to be taken seriously.
“My son wrote supporting the British troops in Afghanistan and also said he was sad so many soldiers had died.
“It’s appalling and extremely upsetting for Darius.”
The school confirmed that six pupils had been disciplined for the hate campaign and face permanent expulsion pending an investigation.
Now it might just be threats, but facebook apparently was used for it.

Link.
But a gang of pupils at Sidney Stringer Academy in Coventry – a predominantly Muslim area – expressed outrage at Darius’ patriotism.
One message – littered with spelling mistakes – said: ”Fight on Monday gonna be heavy knuckle dusters nd knifes hopefully I don’t die.”
His pal added: ”ill bang him ma slef am a terrorist.”
One of the thugs also posted a chilling picture of himself holding a rifle.
Shockingly, other pupils – who have set up a Muslim Defence League which celebrates British deaths in Afghanistan – also added comments condemning Darius.
They set up a Muslim defence league? A dyslexic one at that?
13 years ago I would have laughed at anyone suggesting that the UK could face a civil war or massive civil unrest by about 2020, now I'm not so sure. 13 years ago I would have laughed at any suggestion of the English working class setting up their own grass roots movement outside the auspices of politics called the EDL to defend against the continuing assault on our culture and values by politicians, activists and a totalitarian ideology wrapped up in religious trappings. I'm not laughing now.
Well we've had New Labour and look around you to see what happens when a political movement decides it would be good to rub the "rights" faces in multiculturalism and diversity by opening the doors of uncontrolled immigration. It might have worked but for one major problem, Islam doesn't do diversity, doesn't do multiculturalism, doesn't play nice with anyone not in Islam.
New Labour may just have consigned the UK's next generation to a terrible civil war in the name of diversity and multiculturalism.

Run away, run away!

MP's are being told if terrorists attack parliament they are to flee for their lives.

Telegraph.

MPs and their staff will be ordered to flee for their lives in the event of a Mumbai-style terrorist attack on Parliament, according to security advice.

An emergency plan drawn up by police and circulated to all Westminster workers informs staff that in the event of an armed attack they should head for the nearest exist, only stopping to help injured colleagues if it is safe for them to do so.
The warning, contained in an email circulated to MPs, peers, researchers, secretaries other employees, discloses that the authorities anticipate that a Mumbai style assault on the Houses of Parliament could potentially result in heavy casualties.
It advises workers not to attempt to barricade themselves into their offices unless they have no choice, adding that many lives could have been saved in Mumbai if victims had been able to flee.
So not only run away, but abandon the wounded to their fate too. In other words act like politicians, I'm surprised that MP's had to be told to be honest.
However what I suspect will happen is that some, perhaps most people will act with compassion and with bravery despite the risks to their lives, that where possible extreme risks will be taken to get people out as well as various national treasures too. If the attack is severe enough, yes there will be casualties, perhaps a lot of casualties, but people will behave like people, some will run, some will do their best for their fellow men and women even at risk to their own lives and no amount of official security measures will prevent this from happening.
These people will be the heroes, though most will find it odd that people would think they could act any other way. I have my suspicions though that most of them wont be politicians...

Jihad Jenny strikes again

Most political parties have a few mad old relatives that they'd like to get rid of but can't, so they stick them in the House of Lords in the hope that they'll go away. Unfortunately some of them just get louder and more embarrassing. Case in point being Baroness Tonge (Lib Dem) who managed to embarrass even Nick Clegg enough to sack her over a claim that Israeli doctors were illegally harvesting organs from the Haiti earthquake victims. <Link>

She's still unfortunately at it...

Jerusalem Post.

Liberal Democratic peer asks why world allows Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to continue – "Is it Holocaust guilt?"

LONDON – In the second attack on Israel by Liberal Democrat politicians in the same week that the party’s leader said the party got it wrong on Israel, Jenny Tonge claimed on Friday that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is the root cause of terrorism worldwide.

Possibly “Holocaust guilt” allows this treatment to go unchecked, Tonge said, adding that it might also be the “power of the pro-Israel lobby” in the UK and US.

Nothing quite like a quick conspiracy slur just to muddy the waters
The Liberal Democrat peer was speaking in the House of Lords at the Strategic Defense and Security Review, which sets out how the British government will deliver the priorities identified in its national security strategy.

On the issue of world conflict prevention, Tonge then said: “It is a disgrace to us all that problems such as Kashmir and Palestine are still alienating Muslims all over the world.

“The treatment of Palestinians by Israel is held up as an example of how the West treats Muslims,” she said, “and is at the root cause of terrorism worldwide.”

“Even [the Quartet’s Middle East envoy] Tony Blair has now admitted this publicly,” she claimed.

“Why do we let it continue? Is it Holocaust guilt? We should be guilty – of course we should. Is it the power of the pro-Israel lobby here and in the USA?” The peer went on say that “cynics might think” Britain is at the ready to help Israel attack Iran.
Tonge's problem, other than the fact that she's a useful idiot for global jihad. Is the normal one of politicians in simplifying a possible solution where it will require a very complex one instead. As this video shows.

Then again I'm fairly sure that Baroness Tonge does see the elimination of Israel as a simple solution, it's what she's worked for for years, as unfortunately have most of the left and a good few of the right in this country. What we should be doing is minding our own business, we have enough problems with the economy, civil rights and home grown jihadi's before we start meddling in someone else's back yard.
So politicians should when asked about Israel/Palestine simply say no comment or none of our business, simply because it is none of our business and fanning the flames as Jihad Jenny does is no help to either side and often brings the problems of those two countries closer to home for us as witness the attacks in London and Glasgow as well as fanning the flames of Muslims against Crusaders in burning poppies in London.

I'm becoming more and more a fan of armed neutrality Swiss style every day.

Not in our interests?

Ireland is in deep shit trouble over it's economic overspending, almost 32% of its GDP is going on servicing and paying its debts. In short unless the IMF or the EU steps in they're going down the Swannee. Problem is, if the EU steps in, despite the fact we aren't in the Eurozone, we will probably get stiffed with part of the bill as they do like to share the pain whilst reaping the bureaucratic benefits.

Express.
BRITISH taxpayers could face a bill of up to £10billion to bail out the Irish economy, it emerged last night.
Ireland was yesterday locked in negotiations over a £70billion EU rescue deal - with the UK required to underwrite some 10 per cent of possible losses, which could amount to £7billion.

The Royal Bank of Scotland, which has billions of pounds of exposure to Irish loans, is also underwritten by British taxpayers, adding a possible £3billion burden on the public purse.

As concern mounted over Ireland's debts, the government in Dublin is understood to have held preliminary discussions with the EU about an aid package.

Irish ministers have stressed they could manage their finances, but governments across Europe have expressed concern that a bail-out may be required as earlier as this week.
£10 billion, on top of the other payments we make to the EU! Apparently it's not in our interests if the Irish economy goes tits up down, however it's my opinion that handing over £10 billion isn't going to do our economy a lot of good either. What happens after Ireland though? Spain and Portugal maxed out their cheap credit tied to the German economy too, I doubt they can pay back their debts and when they can't, guess where they'll come knocking too.
It's time we got out of that money sucking black hole aka the EU, time the Tories got off their arses backsides and got rid of Cast Iron Cameron and put a real EUsceptic in charge, before the next country after Ireland, Spain and Portugal is the UK!

At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS
by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
WE SHALL NOT SLEEP,
THOUGH POPPIES GROW
IN FLANDERS FIELDS.

Another broken promise

The Coagulation when they came to power had made certain promises one of which was to give those accused of rape the same anonymity as the accuser until convicted. Rape itself is a horrific crime and those who are found guilty of it should have the most severe of sentences handed down to them, however the stigma of being simply accused of being a rapist has driven innocent men to suicide, wrecked lives, wrecked relationships, cost jobs and left men in a position of social stigma under the "there's no smoke without fire" type of reaction that passes for thinking amongst certain people.

Julia at Ambush Predator has a whole series of stories about false accusations and the often pitiful sentences handed down to those who falsely accuse men, a seemingly not as rare as they'd like you to believe accusation still called by the police as extremely rare.

Express.
CRITICS last night attacked the Government after ministers backed down on a key pledge to give anonymity to those accused of rape.
Announcing the U-turn, Justice Minister Crispin Blunt told MPs there was insufficient evidence to justify giving the protection to those accused and on trial for serious sex attacks.
The move drew praise from women’s rights groups, but it also re-ignited fears that dropping the pledge would lead to more men being tarnished by faked allegations.
Former MP Neil Hamilton, who was falsely accused of rape nearly a decade ago along with his wife Christine, said: “If the victim has a right to anonymity the alleged perpetrator should be entitled to it until conviction.”
In 2003 Nadine Milroy-Sloan was jailed for three years after telling police the Hamiltons had raped her.
Yesterday Mr Hamilton warned: “Not having anonymity for the accused makes it easy for the unscrupulous to abuse the system at the expense of the victim. That’s not justice.
“Even though Christine and I knew we were innocent, we went through a lot of stress and indignity. We were facing seven years in jail.”
In May the Coalition Government said: “We will extend anonymity in rape cases to defendants.”
You'd think it would be simple enough, I really don't see why the women’s rights groups are up in arms about it, it's not likely to deter women from reporting rape as far as I can see. Or could it just be that they hate men so much that they even want the innocent to suffer along with the guilty?
But after criticism from Labour and women’s rights groups it became clear the plans were unworkable.
Last night, Shadow Justice Minister Helen Goodman said: “We welcome this U-turn.”
Unworkable how? If the victim is allowed anonymity, so should the accused, if he's innocent then he's the victim and it can and has lead to horrendous suffering for the guy involved, with the false accuser just given a slap on the wrist and left to go on her way.

If politicians want people to trust them, keeping your promises is a good way to go about it!

BBC, deliberately missing a story?

An event happened yesterday, I mentioned it in my blog post Disgraceful, where I mentioned that an extremist Muslim group were going to try and disrupt a Remembrance Day ceremony in Kensington. They did and produced quite a reaction, though possibly not one they quite expected, though no doubt they are unrepentant about that. I doubt the MAC (Muslims Against Crusaders) were even aware that the Ceremony also commemorates Muslim dead too, though even if they were I doubt it would stop this group.
Fortunately a good few Patriots of the English Defence League were there to make their point about the utter lack of respect shown, though again the media seems to have (deliberately) gotten the numbers wrong not 50, but approximately 150 to 200 and this was at less than 24 hours notice and included members from all over the country as far as Leeds. Nor did the EDL disrupt the ceremony or the 2 minute silence, to make their point they en masse simply turned their back on the MAC only clashing with them after when they burned a poppy.

Daily Mail: 'Poppy-burning Muslim protesters mar Armistice Day commemorations as millions fall silent to remember war dead'

The Sun - Sick Protestors torch poppy

The Telegraph - Muslims clash with police after burning poppy in anti-Armistice Day protest

Daily Express - MUSLIM PROTESTERS BURN POPPIES AS BRITAIN REMEMBERS WAR HEROES

Daily Star - MUSLIM THUGS BURN POPPIES

Evening Standard - Millions fall silent to mark Remembrance Day as Muslim extremists burn poppies
H/T The Talking Clock for the list.

Notice the missing outlet? That would be the BBC who for some strange reason seem very reluctant to mention the protest or indeed any story critical of the Religion of Peace. Even the MCB came out in criticism of the protest, and Labour MP Khalid Mahmood put the boot in saying "These people have no regard or respect for the people who are prepared to give their lives for the country, and if they don’t like it they can hop it and leave. They have these rights to protest that are afforded to them because people have given their lives up for those rights. To have these people behave like this is absolutely ridiculous. It’s complete nonsense and despicable."
More and more people are turning to the internet and the blogging world to find out what's happening because the MSM even when it deigns to report something, inevitably slants it to fit their agenda twisting the facts or parsing the grammar to give an impression of something that simply isn't the case. In this instance with the BBC I suspect it was that they were unable in any circumstances to present the EDL in a negative light, so they simply ignored the story altogether.

Update.
Finally the truth comes out at the BBC... er no it doesn't.

The founder of the English Defence League (EDL) has been charged with assaulting a police officer during a confrontation with Islamic protesters.
Stephen Lennon, 27 of Luton, was held as the Muslims Against Crusades group burnt poppies in Kensington, west London, during a two-minute silence to mark the anniversary of Armistice Day.
Five other members of EDL have been arrested on suspicion of affray.
Watch this Youtube video, do you see any assault here?

He grabs the flag and is then jumped on, no policeman assaulted.

Typical BBC.

Remembrance Day

                                                             REMEMBRANCE DAY.

Remembrance Day is here again,
On this day we remember all those who were slain.
The ones they left behind have endured much sorrow and pain.
But rest assured,
the whole world knows those brave ones didn't die in vain.
The poppies that you see people wear,
Are there to show you they still care.
We open our hearts so that we can share,
A moment of silence, and offer a prayer.
To all the soldiers who died saving our country

God bless

all supporters of the troops and our allies

For The Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Disgraceful

Muslims against Crusades have applied for a static demo in London tomorrow Exhibition road (nearest tube South Kensington) at 11am. They plan to chant “murderers and rapists” through the 2 minutes silence.

The police have confirmed this is happening and there's nothing they can do about it.

I suspect the EDL and the casuals probably can though

Bribery

As a taxpayer I'm now quite used to the government wasting my money on various schemes that to the average guy in the street simply male no sense (yes we're looking at you diversity co-ordinators and carbon capture monitors) It does seem at times that the government is paying people quite well in some cases to do nothing. OK it leaves me seething at times when I have to deal with local and national government as all I want them to do is the absolute basics and leave the rest for me to sort out, but until the revolution etc. I have to put up with it.
However this managed to make me grimace a bit more than usual.

Express.
BRIBES paid to get foreign criminals to leave the UK have tripled in the last month, the UK Border Agency has revealed.
When hard-working families are being stripped of their child benefit by the Government, murderers and rapists who agree to be flown home from prison are being given up to £1,500 in cash
The astonishing figure is more than the annual allowance for a family with a single child and comes after a Border Agency shake-up.
 What, The, Hell?

They're foreign, they're criminals, they shouldn't be here, why bribe them to go? Has someone gone stark staring mad? Handcuff them, put them on a plane and kick them off on the tarmac at their home country, don't give them money! Oh and give them the bill for their incarceration and transport whilst you're at it and let them know if they come back it's an automatic seizure of all assets and another trip home.
I just cannot wait for the day when we string up the idiot politicians who thought this was a good idea, though I'm beginning to think hanging them from the lampposts will be far too kind.

Poppies

There are lots of reasons people choose to wear poppies, though the main one is remembering our dead, who fought and died, sometimes for causes great and other times for causes not so great, but we still remember them even if we despise the governments and decisions that put them in harms way. It's a small way of giving something to charity and showing respect to those who lost their lives serving their country.

BBC.
A Hollister clothes shop assistant was told to remove her Remembrance poppy as it was not part of the uniform.
Harriet Phipps, 18, said the assistant manager at the Southampton branch had told her to remove it.
Miss Phipps initially refused to take it off, but was made to feel so "uncomfortable" she eventually did.
Hollister, which is owned by US giant Abercrombie and Fitch, said it had reviewed its policy and staff may now wear a poppy on Remembrance Day itself.
Miss Phipps said she wore her poppy in honour of a friend currently serving in Afghanistan.
Now whilst as a libertarian I believe that what you do on someone's private property is up to them, I'm absolutely amazed that the manager in question couldn't see a public relations disaster looming over this decision. No a poppy isn't company uniform, nor is it corporate wear, it's a gesture of respect and only worn during the period leading up to remembrance day. Already people out there are talking about boycotting the store so much so that the store has been forced into making a statement.
"Our company policy is currently to permit associates to wear a poppy as a token of this appreciation on Remembrance Day.
"In the future, we will revisit, in light of local custom, whether to extend the policy to the days or weeks leading up to Remembrance Day."
You can just imagine the reaction in the companies public relations department somewhat along the lines of "He's done what!" "Oh my God we're going to be crucified over this, doesn't he have any common sense?"
Seems even the government can't get all the jobsworths working for them after all.

Of rats and sinking ships

The two Royal navy carriers are a controversial subject, conceived as a jobs for the (Scottish) boys in the Rosyth yards after Gordon Brown came face to face with the fact that people knew he'd skimped on the military budget. Set up as a potential vote winner (and it worked) it was also tied into Labours scorched earth policy as they knew that in England they were going to be hammered, so they spread the few goodies around their core areas and tied the contracts down with penalty clauses so the next government could not (legally) afford to get out of them.
The fiasco's got greater of course, turned out the carriers weren't going to get any planes for them till 2020 and that we were going to have to share them with the French.
Finally today, Lord Hesketh, they guy second in charge of the project finally had enough and quit.

BBC.
The deputy chairman of Babcock, Lord Hesketh, has resigned after he called the Royal Navy's aircraft carrier programme a "disaster".
His resignation from the engineering group follows a report in the Daily Telegraph newspaper in which he was reported as saying the project would make the country a "laughing stock".
Babcock is building the carriers at its shipyard in Rosyth.
Earlier on Monday it issued a statement distancing itself from the report.
Last month's defence review revealed that £5.2bn would be spent on two new carriers
For three years there will be only one aircraft carrier, in any case, the planes being built for the vessels will not be ready until 2020.
Lord Hesketh's resignation takes place with immediate effect.
He has been non-executive deputy chairman of Babcock since 1996 and a non-executive director since 1993.
This whole sorry shambles should be enough to hold over Labour's competence to govern us for the next several decades (though how soon fools forget) Not only are they going to be white elephants till 2020, they had to get rid of the various support ships necessary to protect them in order to be able to afford them.
Still at least some Scottish shipbuilders got some jobs courtesy of Gordon Brown...

It's enough to make you weep the mess Labour has left this country in.

As you reap...

It was bound to happen sooner or later, Cast iron Cameron is now facing some little difficulty over the (don't mention the) EU from his own party as well as having his arm twisted up his back verbally by his (we love the EU) coalition party leader over renegotiations on Lisbon.

Telegraph.

Dozens of MPs are threatening to vote against the Coalition on Europe this week, as David Cameron unveils new laws ensuring that any future transfer of power to Brussels is subject to a referendum.

The Prime Minister will attempt to reassert his eurosceptic credentials by launching an EU Bill promising MPs and the British people their say on any proposed transfer of sovereignty to the European Union.
But the move was condemned last night as a "cosmetic gesture" by Tory MPs who are still furious that Mr Cameron reneged on a pledge to hold a referendum on the controversial Lisbon Treaty, which has already transferred key powers to EU control.
The Prime Minister is coming under increasing pressure not to wave through revisions to the Treaty being demanded by France and Germany.
More than two dozen Tory MPs have signed a protest motion and up to 50 could vote against the Government during a key debate on Wednesday asking MPs to approve the Treaty amendments, which give the EU the ability to oversee the budgets of member states.
The issue has inflamed tensions in the coalition, with Nick Clegg insisting that he will not sanction any renegotiation in areas such as employment and social policy, a Tory election pledge.
Despite a promise in the coalition agreement to examine the issue of EU power, Mr Clegg said: "We are not going to reopen this issue of the repatriation of powers."
Under the terms of the EU Bill being unveiled this Thursday, any future EU Treaty that transfers competencies or areas of power from the UK to the EU will be subject to a referendum of the British people.
The use of ratchet clauses or "passerelles" – provisions in existing EU Treaties allowing the rules of the EU to be modified or expanded without the need for a formal Treaty change – would also be subject to an Act of Parliament before the Government could agree to their use.
Unfortunately Cameron flushed his supposed EUsceptic credentials down the drain when he decided that Lisbon was a done deal and that there was nothing to be done about it. Conveniently forgetting that no Parliament can be bound by the previous one. And although the EU would not have liked it (as would certain members of the Tory party) he could have promised a referendum on Lisbon, or better yet "in or out" though he rather gave the game away last week when in the face of EU budget increases against domestic budget reductions, he said he believed that the UK is best served by our continuing membership of the EU. Seems even his a good few of his own party don't believe him any more, hence the opposition to this series of new laws, seeing it as closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, a cosmetic gesture as there isn't much else left to give away.
David Lidington, the Europe Minister, will say the Government is determined to address the disillusion felt by millions about the erosion of power to Brussels.
Except by the one method of an in or out referendum, the one method they know would bring their house of cards down, the one method the EU truly fears and will move heaven and earth to prevent because for all their money, they know the majority of the UK public are profoundly EUsceptic and no amount of bribes might be enough to prevent us voting to leave.
It's no wonder Cameron and his coterie are worried, the EU was always the rod that would break the coalitions back, hated by many of his backbenchers, hated by the UK public, the only reason he managed to cling onto an electoral win was many Tories telling us "wait till he gets into power, he'll show his EUscepticism then."How bitterly disappointed they must be, they wanted a Thatcher and they got a Blair and so the Heath betrayal carries on into the night.

Euphemisms

It's both astonishing and disturbing to watch the MSM deliberately try to hide the nationality and religion of some sexual predators.

Mail.
'Sexual predators': Gang of Asian men weep as they are jailed for total of 32 years for abusing white girls as young as 12

Express.
Five men have been condemned as "sexual predators" by a judge as he handed down lengthy jail terms after they were found guilty of grooming teenage girls for sex.

Telegraph.
No mention at all.

BBC.
Five men have been jailed after being found guilty of sex offences against girls as young as 12.

All you may have gathered from the headlines is that the men are Asian and from Rotherham. The more astute amongst us would immediately wonder what kind of Asians, after all there are so many different nationalities in Asia, though a quick check of the names will soon narrow it down. Umar Razaq, 24, Razwan Razaq, 30, Zafran Ramzan, 21, Adil Hussain 20, and Mohsin Khan, 21 though only the Mail declares they are all British-born Pakistanis. You can probably guess the religion from the names, though there are some who would argue that their religion had nothing to do with their crime, though a quick study of their religion would certainly identify disturbing traits in the treatment of women, particularly non Muslim (kaffir) women and in particularly going by the example of the so called "perfect" man who founded their faith an attraction to very young women indeed.
I don't get the British born Pakistani bit either, they are British born or they are Pakistani's, if they had been born in Pakistan that would have been different. As it is they were born here, grew up here and would have known the consequences of what they were doing here, that makes the British, not Asian.
The sexual predator bit is very misleading too, they were found guilty of a string of sexually related offences against the girls, one aged 12, two aged 13 and one aged 16. That in my book makes them paedophiles (just following in the path of the prophet no doubt) as well as sexual predators. The sentences are a bit derisory as well Umar Razaq was jailed for four and a half years, while the judge gave Razwan Razaq 11 years. Ramzan was jailed for nine years, and Hussain and Khan both received four years. All five were placed on the sex offenders register. So jailed for 32 years? Don't make me laugh, these scum will be out on the streets again soon, one of them probably within 2 years, yet was found guilty of sex with a minor as well as grooming the girls.

My opinion for what it's worth is that their nationality had nothing to do with their crime, however their religion and their upbringing within their community had everything to do with it. They saw nothing wrong with abusing young white girls (yes I know about dirty old men and Thailand) in their own back yard, something they would never be able to do within their own community for fear of the consequences. Yes this reflects badly on the parents of the girls, however girls can be good at concealing things too. The law as it stands sees what these men were doing as a crime, they went ahead and did it anyway.
The greatest shame of all is the biased lack of reporting in the MSM who tried to conceal so much of who these guys were.

Here's a very rare Local ITV report on what's actually going on

Ignore the title, it's from a BNP upload, the report itself is interesting though.

In a bit of a state.

Seems Captain Hook has won his appeal to keep his British citizenship, which seems a bit remarkable as he hates this country with a passion and I believe that as a Muslim, he's a Muslim first second and last. Seems even a Muslim country (probably) didn't want him either, Egypt revoked his citizenship first knowing a bad apple when they saw one and having a far more direct method of dealing with trouble.

Telegraph.

Hate preacher Abu Hamza has won his appeal against the Government's attempts to strip him of his British passport, a special tribunal has ruled.

The radical cleric argued that such a move would render him "stateless" as he had already been stripped of his Egyptian citizenship.
Delivering its 12-page ruling, the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac) allowed his appeal.
In his ruling, Mr Justice Mitting said: "We are satisfied on balance of probabilities that if a deprivation order were to be made, the appellant (Hamza) would be made stateless.
"The conclusions which we have reached in the closed judgment supplement, but do not contradict, that conclusion.
"Accordingly, this appeal is allowed."
Hamza, 52, was jailed for seven years in February 2006 for inciting murder and race hate.
He is in Belmarsh Prison as he challenges attempts to extradite him to the US on terror charges.
That case was delayed by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in July, which called for further submissions over the length of his sentence and the conditions he would experience if extradited to ADX Florence, a so-called "supermax" prison in Fremont County, Colorado.
Attempts to take his passport away were launched in 2003 but delayed by other legal actions against him.
I'm fairly sure the average (non Muslim) guy on the street couldn't give a damn if he's stateless or not, most would have him kicked out anyway, preferably to the USA and a 50+ year sentence (well I can dream) There's also a chance that the so called expert was erm what's the correct legal term, oh yes, "fibbing" about his dual citizenship too, just because he's been refused an Egyptian passport, doesn't make him a non Egyptian citizen either, lots of people in this country are refused passports, mostly football hooligans (and those accused of hooliganism too) doesn't make them non citizens.
Still, with a bit of luck Hooky will be gone soon, though not soon enough, a pretty good case pour encourager les autres. Though it seems militant Islamics never really learn, sooner or later though the British government will, just hope it's not because of the blood of innocents splashed at the door of number 10.

It just keeps getting better

I don't often post on foreign going ons, save only when they impact on England and/or the UK, though I did watch and enjoy the USA voters giving Obama and his democrats a broad hint about what they thought of his policies so far, i.e. stop now because if you thought this was bad, wait two years.
One of the side benefits though at least according to John Prescott (one of Labours great thinkers) though oddly enough he doesn't see it as a benefit, is that there now can be no deal on climate change.

Telegraph.

Barack Obama's setback in the US mid-term elections has killed of any hope of securing a legally binding global climate change deal, John Prescott has said.

Negotiators should ditch hopes of enforceable targets on emissions reductions and push instead for a voluntary framework at the upcoming Cancun summit, the former deputy prime minister said.
After President Barack Obama's ''shellacking'' at the hands of Republican opponents in mid-term elections, there was no prospect of the US Congress approving legal requirements to cut greenhouse gas emissions, said Lord Prescott, who was a key UK negotiator at the Kyoto global warming conference in 1997.
Lord Prescott, now the Council of Europe rapporteur on climate change issues, said that the Kyoto Protocol should be extended for five years beyond its 2012 expiry date to allow time for a voluntary system of verifiable emission reductions to be introduced.
After the failure to achieve a legally binding agreement at last year's Copenhagen summit, it would be ''disastrous'' if the UN-sponsored gathering kicking off in the Mexican city of Cancun on November 29 were also to end in stalemate, he said.
I mean apart from talking complete bollocks and totally unable to understand that climate change has been totally discredited by the CRU tapes, more and more evidence coming in showing that it's actually getting colder. There is also the obstacle that more savvy politicians (i.e. not Labour or Liberal ones) are beginning to suspect that the public have seen through the whole charade and realise like most causes political that it's just another tax grab.
Prescott's just another fading ex politician who never realised the harm he and various other politicians and environmentalists did to this country. Unfortunately he still gets media space when all he deserves is mockery and scorn.

I don't blame them at all for this

Israel produces extremes of belief and behaviour in the UK, most people are pro or anti in a way that defies description for a small democratic country in the Middle East. One of the ways that those who hate the very existence of the Jewish state has been the use in British law of "mischievous" arrest warrants based on universal jurisdiction, which holds that some alleged crimes are so grave that they can be tried anywhere, regardless of where the offences were committed.Which is utter bollocks though a useful tool for the rabid left and its Islamic adherents. What goes on in other countries that doesn't involve our citizens is after all no business of our courts, it's a job for diplomats and politicians assuming that they want to get involved. But this after all is Israel we are talking about and normal rules it seems do not apply, though there was an attempt by Tibetans apparently to arrest the Premier of China when he was here, again much as I sympathise with them, it's no business of the British justice system what the Chinese do in Tibet whether it's reprehensible or not. I'd have thought heads of state and other politicians would automatically have diplomatic immunity, though as I'm no expert on law, I don't know.

BBC.
Israel is postponing "strategic dialogue" with Britain over defence and security issues, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman has said.
The move is a protest over attempts to use British law to prosecute visiting Israeli officials, the spokesman added.
The news comes on the first day of an official visit to Israel by the UK's Foreign Secretary William Hague.
The Foreign Office said the British government was moving to curb the use of "mischievous" arrest warrants.
Mr Hague will also be visiting the occupied territories during his visit.
An arrest warrant was issued through UK courts for Israeli former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in December last year. The warrant was granted by a London court at the request of Palestinian plaintiffs, provoking Israeli anger.
It was revoked when it was found Ms Livni was not visiting the UK.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman denied that the latest development was a deliberate "ambush" to humiliate Mr Hague.
Earlier this week it was reported that Israel's Intelligence Minister, Dan Meridor, cancelled a trip to Britain amid concerns that he risked being arrested on war crimes charges.
Israel has expressed anger that, in the past, ministers and senior military figures have had to cancel visits to the UK because of concerns that pro-Palestinian groups might use the courts to seek their arrest over Israeli military action in Gaza, or this year's raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship in which nine Turkish activists were killed.
Pro-Palestinian campaigners have tried several times to have Israeli officials arrested under the principle of universal jurisdiction, which holds that some alleged crimes are so grave that they can be tried anywhere, regardless of where the offences were committed.
The BBC's Wyre Davies said the news that Israel was postponing an annual round of strategic talks with Britain was potentially embarrassing, even though the Conservatives have already promised to amend those laws which could expose visiting Israeli politicians to arrest.
Yes this is a slap in the face for the UK, no I don't think this is a deliberate dig at Hague save only that the government should have done something about this law when it became an issue. As I said above what Israel or indeed any other country chooses to do in its own land or with their neighbours is no business of the courts it is not a matter for the law at all, human rights violations or not, it's a matter for politicians and diplomats. Arresting foreign visitors or serving them with a warrant serves no purpose other than to embarrass the UK government and makes negotiations all the more difficult and leads to situations like this. Of course that is exactly what the spoilt brats of the leftist Palestinian alliance want but pandering to their lunacy is not the way for the law or the government to act. They can protest, they can boycott, they cannot and must not have the right to arrest a foreign citizen who has committed no crime in the UK or the EU (damnation upon that European arrest warrant too) because such things sooner or later come back to haunt you with a vengeance.

A phrase involving hoist and petard springs to mind here

Over the last few months I've been looking into the actions of the EDL mostly because what few details that emerged from them at first did not seem to match what was actually happening on the ground so to speak.
Now it seems that the police also realise who the main troublemakers are in the whole EDL/UAF business and aren't afraid to tell a socialist council just exactly who the real troublemakers are, and it isn't the EDL.

Socialist Worker. (Yes this really stuck in their craw)
A meeting with Preston councillors last week shows the extraordinary measures that police are prepared to use to block protests against the racist English Defence League (EDL).
Preston independent socialist councillor Michael Lavalette told Socialist Worker about a police briefing of Preston council.
The police asked to meet councillors about an EDL march planned for Saturday 27 November.
“I was shocked at what they came out with in that meeting,” Michael said. “They said that the EDL’s website states that it is a non-racist, peaceful organisation and that they would have to take that at face value.
“They said that the EDL has a right to protest and the police have to stay neutral. But then they launched a disgraceful attack against Unite Against Fascism (UAF).
“They told us that it is counter protests organised by UAF that cause trouble.
“They said that UAF is a front for the extremist Socialist Workers Party. The tenor was clear—UAF is as much of a problem, if not more so, than the EDL.
“I was furious and pointed out that UAF includes several national trade unions, MPs and labour movement activists.
“I had decided a few weeks ago to organise a counter protest when they come to Preston.”
You can imagine the dummy being spat out of the pram at that precise moment, it's almost on a par with a Z list celeb turning round and saying "You can't do this, I'm famous! Look at all my friends!"
UAF and the Preston Trades Council agreed to jointly call it and issued a unity statement which Michael took to Preston Council on the Thursday before the meeting with the police.
“All 25 Labour Party councillors signed the statement,” Michael said. “Two independents signed up and one Lib Dem councillor. Most trade unions have signed up as well.”
In the meeting with the police Michael said most EDL protests end in violence. “I pointed out that every protest has involved attacks on the police. In Stoke they ran riot and attacked cars and shops.
Whilst conveniently forgetting that in Newcastle where the UAF were not involved, the EDL protest and march went without a hitch or an arrest. Whereas in Bolton and Stoke amazingly enough the majority of those arrested were UAF (55 to 9 EDL in Bolton and  17 to 6 in Stoke)
“I think the police wanted to use the meeting with councillors to clamp down on any counter protest and to abuse UAF.
Well if the cap fits.
“The EDL is being allowed to assemble outside the main church on the high street which is a five minute walk from Preston’s main mosque.
“If EDL supporters are allowed to march the 300 metres through the town to the Flag Market, they will be within minutes of Preston’s Asian community.”
The council is planning a special meeting on 8 November to decide whether to ask for the EDL march to be banned. Michael is opposed to this approach.
“Banning the EDL march doesn’t ban it having a static protest, so it is no victory for our side,” he said.
“In Stoke and Bolton where the Asian community and local people did largely stay away, there was more violence because the EDL was given free rein and was not opposed.
“A counter protest is our best defence because we can stand together in larger numbers and protect our communities.
“The best way to keep safe is to come out in large numbers—black, white and Asian together—at mosques and in the town centre.”
“The Flag Market is right in the heart of Preston—it is a symbolically important place. So I think it is vital that the community unites to defend it and stand together to stop the EDL.”
Drew Gale, a Labour councillor who represents the same Town Centre ward as Michael, told the local press he would join the UAF counter-protest and said, “I’ll be standing shoulder to shoulder with UAF in opposition.”

OK, the EDL to my knowledge have never attacked a Mosque, a 16 year old member of the UAF sprayed swastikas on the Dudley Mosque to try and blame the EDL but was caught and arrested over it. And does the putting large numbers around a Mosque sound a bit like Saddam's human shields?
Also I wonder which Asian community they are on about, or is this part of the old racist socialist belief that all Asians are Muslims? Not Hindu's, Sikh's Buddhists, and Jains as well.
The UAF are well known for their violent activities, it was past time some of these idiot socialist councillors were presented with a few home truths.

Yes, I know I have been critical of the police in the past, but this time it's a joy to see them putting the facts straight.

Perfect sense?

Liam Fox, the Defence Secretary, has said that plans which could put British combat troops including the SAS under French command make “perfect sense”. Well they might make perfect sense to an imbecile, (or politicians) but they don't make sense to me. When it comes to the defence of the realm, you make damned sure that your armed forces and all the attachments that go with it remain under your command. You for instance don't allow a foreign military however friendly to command your troops under any circumstances simply because their interests may not be in any way shape or form your interests. I can imagine circumstances where the lives of French civilians or military may be in danger where the "British" contingent of their rapid response unit is used as a sacrificial lamb to get them out whilst the French contingent remain safe doing the evacuation. Far fetched? Not really, British troops on the whole have combat experience, French troops mostly don't, you want something difficult done you use the right tools for the job, in the case of the military in Europe, that's us. I can see the EU using our troops as cannon fodder when the inevitable breakdown happens either through internal division, or the rise of the Islamics and their constant attempts to bend our way of life to their medieval lunacy. In the next 20 or so years, something is going to break and I want our troops here with a 26 mile (at least) moat between us and them.
Liam Fox and whoever came up with this idea on the British side (yes I'm looking at you Cameron) are traitors, there is no other word for it, they are selling out our armed forces to a foreign power to pay the bills instead of getting rid of the obscene environmental taxes, trimming back savagely the welfare industry and napalming the Quango cults. They can claim they are just tidying up Labours mess, but you don't endanger your nation by messing with its armed forces by handing command of them over to a foreign power. Oh I know it's early days yet and they are keeping the units separate, but this is the thin end of the wedge, this is where we start to go slowly into the night as a nation.

Soap Dodgers

Interesting spot in the Urban Dictionary especially number 3

3. Unite Against Fascism

A group of Students, Social Misfits, Communists and failed suicide bombers who protest against patriotic English people whilst waving the flag of Soviet Russia, they love Communism and everything that denies freedom, they openly support Islamic extremists and are the most hypocrital people in the world, they are all racist, fascist Nazis. UAF members never wash or even change clothes and are always high on acid hence their nicknames "Soap-Dodgers"
are you in the UAF (Unite Against Fascism)?" "yeah" "you are a fucking traitor then"

Seems the EDL are having fun.

Blackout

The Health and safety lobby are about to clash with the recession, in that a lot of councils have decided to switch their street lights off after midnight to save money. Cue, strong language about the probable carnage on our streets etc, etc.

Express.
FATAL road crashes will soar as cash-strapped councils switch of street lights to save cash during the dark winter months, safety experts warn.
Thousands of miles of roads and motorways are to be plunged into darkness as town hall chiefs reign back their spending – hit hard by the coalition’s cutbacks.
So far, 36 councils are to implement a “black out” on roads during the early hours of the morning. Others are dimming lights to save electricity costs.
The Highways Agency also plans to turn off lights on some stretches of motorway from midnight to 5am.
Critics yesterday slammed the money-saving measures, claiming dark roads, coupled with the harsh winter weather, could spell disaster.
The AA said: “Statistics show that more people are killed or seriously injured in the dark, so switching off street lighting at any time of day has safety implications and accidents could potentially increase as a result.
“Councils must monitor the impact of the scheme and be prepared to switch the lights back on if there are any changes to accident trends.”
A survey by Halfords found 1.9 per cent of road accidents on major roads are fatal where there are no lights, compared with 1.3 where lights are on. On smaller roads the figures are 4.9 per cent for dark roads, compared with 3.1 per cent when the lights are bright.
The switch off comes as the clocks went back an hour yesterday plunging Britain into evening darkness.
Yes, I suppose there's a chance of more accidents, however it's not like they are planning to switch them off at 6 pm is it? One of the strange things you notice when driving about at midnight should you have too is how few people there are about and how few cars there are. You also notice that your car has lights and that they illuminate the road in front of you. Certainly there is an increases danger, but I don't believe for a second that it's going to be anywhere near as bad as the health and safety experts say, after all these are the guys who hammered on for years about speed cameras making roads safer only for Swindon Council to prove that no they don't.
By all means switch the lights off after midnight, switch them off totally on motorways too, save at junctions. They aren't needed particularly, an exception could be made on New Years Eve I guess, but again people would manage,

Would be nice to get rid of some of the light pollution over this country and give people a chance to look at the stars again.
